if they do not carry the proper liability insurance (not homeowners or rental), you could be personally liable.

Over the years, I’ve received many frantic calls from people who booked their events with an uninsured, inexperienced, part time, (supposedly-professional, full time) DJ or entertainment subcontractor, then when asked for the proper documentation (COI) by, for example the venue or customer COI and unable to produce it, the customer has to scramble. Our COI (Certificate of Insurance) is available upon request.
